Chuck Woolery's Bio

Charles Herbert Woolery, ”Chuck Woolery”, was born on March 16, 1941 in Ashland, Kentucky. He grew up an avid fisherman along with singing and playing guitar. He originally set his sights on music but joined the U.S. Navy instead. Chuck studied economics and sociology at Morehead State University and after college, he worked as a wine consultant and sales rep at Pillsbury. Realizing that this wasn't for him, Woolery moved to Nashville to launch his music career. He then formed the band ‘Avant Garde.’ They soon landed on the Top 40 charts with the song Naturally Stoned, which Chuck Woolery wrote and produced.

Chuck Woolery landed his first television role as Mr. Dingle on The New Zoo Review, a syndicated TV series for children, but it was a guest appearance on “The Merv Griffin Show” that triggered Chuck Woolery career as a game show host. After the show, Griffin invited him to audition for a newly created game show called Wheel of Fortune in 1975. Chuck Woolery’s seven-year run as host earned him critical praise plus an Emmy Award nod for Best Host of a Game Show.

One of Chuck Woolery's best known roles was of the host of Love Connection. It was as the host of this show that Chuck established the infamous "Back in two and two", where we all learned how long commercial breaks last. For some great clips from the show check out the Love Connection page.

Chuck married Kim Barnes, a Michigan native, on July 17, 2006 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas on Monday according to his publicist, Natalie Marion, The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony before a small group of friends and family.

This is the fourth marriage for Chuck Woolery, who wed his first wife, Margaret Hayes, when he was 20. The couple had three children, Cary, Katherine and Chad, who died in a motorcycle accident in 1986 at age 19. Woolery's second wife was The Fall Guy actress Jo Ann Pflug, with whom he had a daughter, Melissa. His third was Teri Nelson, Ozzie and Harriet's granddaughter, with whom he had two sons, Michael and Sean.

Chuck is a born again Christian who spends time in volunteer ministry. He lives in Texas where he fishes daily according to his website http://chuckwoolery.com. He has a well known fishing products line that he offers through his website and on QVC. He is also the host of the popular game show Lingo which airs on GSN. Lingo is the highest-rated original show ever to run on GSN.
